What it solves

Stable page references for an assembled document.

This tool stamps page numbers onto the rendered pages under your control: one of six positions (top or bottom, left, center or right), one of three formats — the plain number, number over total, or the spelled-out "Page 3 of 18" — a starting number for documents that continue another volume, and a page range written as "1-3, 5, 8-" when the cover should stay clean. The live preview shows every number on the real pages before you commit.

Numbers are stamped on top of the existing pages. If the document already carries printed numbers, the new ones do not replace them — pick a position the old numbering leaves free.

Common uses

01

Complete a document

Place a corrected reference, a short note or a missing logo exactly where it belongs on the page.

02

Number an assembled pack

Give a merged proposal or dossier stable page references before printing or sharing it.

03

Mark a working version

Stamp DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL across every page so nobody mistakes the copy for the final one.

Quick instructions

Place the elements, check the preview, export.

  1. 01Open the PDF; every page is rendered locally in your browser.
  2. 02Add and configure the elements for the task — position, size, color, format or angle depending on the tool.
  3. 03Check the live preview on the real rendered pages before committing to anything.
  4. 04Apply the change; a new copy is built entirely on this device.
  5. 05Download the exported copy and verify it before sharing.

Limits worth knowing

Honest before the export.

  • 01

Elements are placed on top of the existing pages. The text already embedded in the PDF is not rewritten or deleted — to remove content permanently, use Redact PDF.

  • 02

A text watermark deters casual reuse, but a determined editor can remove it. It is labelling, not protection — for real access control, encrypt with Protect PDF.

  • 03

Every operation creates a new download; the source file on the device is never overwritten.

  • 04

Very large or image-heavy files are limited by the memory and processing power of the current device.

Frequently asked questions

Numbering PDF pages — FAQ.

01Does this tool upload my PDF?

No. The document bytes stay in the browser and all processing runs on this device. Nothing is sent to any server.

02Can it change or delete the text already inside the PDF?

No. These tools add new elements on top of the pages; the embedded source text is left untouched. To remove existing content irreversibly, use Redact PDF.

03Does a watermark protect my document?

Only against casual reuse. A text watermark is visible labelling that a determined editor can strip out. If you need to control access, encrypt the file with Protect PDF.

04Are there PDFs these tools cannot process?

Yes. A damaged file, unsupported encryption or a huge scan can require desktop software. The tool reports the failure instead of inventing a result.
